For us, peace, reconciliation, and development in Africa are a task for society as a whole – including in Germany. That is why we initiate debates here and create space for exchange. It is particularly important to us that migrants can actively help shape development debates and initiatives.
2012
our first education project
1+
major event every year, usually an AMK Symposium
2021
since then mostly hybrid: in person and online
Our first education project was the 2012 series “Security Issues in Northwest Africa”: three panel discussions on the conflicts in the region, their origins, and their background. Since then, we have hosted at least one major event every year, usually an AMK Symposium. These are complemented by smaller formats. We take up current developments and regularly focus on particular regions.

2016/17
Coming Together Through Dialogue
2016 and 2017: discussion groups, panels, and project days at schools on the causes of flight and respectful treatment of refugees.
How we work
Symposia
Researchers, diplomats, and civil society activists take the floor, many of them from the African diaspora. Short presentations are followed by a panel and an open discussion with the audience.
Future Workshops
Participants work together to develop visions and first steps toward making them a reality – for example on the future of Cameroon in 2019 and 2026.
With school classes
In 2017, in the project “Coming Together Through Dialogue”, we worked with school classes on the causes of flight and on human rights.
During school vacation
In the AfrisCool summer program, we combined sports with global learning for children.
Since 2021, our symposia have mostly been held in a hybrid format: in person in Berlin-Wedding and online. Simultaneous interpretation, for example between German and English or French, makes access easier for many people. Participation is free of charge.
