Nous souhaitons dans le cadre cette rencontre aborder la question clé suivante: quelles voies le Cameroun pourrait-il prendre pour une Troisième République démocratisée et stabilisée, qui répondra à la fois à la crise générale au Cameroun et à la perspective d’une résolution durable du conflit entre anglophones et anglophones;

Invitation to a workshop on Cameroon

Dear friends, dear colleagues, dear Cameroonians,

The African Muslim Circle e.V. (AMK) would like to cordially invite you to a Workshop on 28.09.2019 entitled „Cameroon – Towards a 3rd Republic – Visions and Perspectives for a Third Cameroonian Republic?“.

Cameroon has been experiencing difficult times for several years, leading to the emergence and consolidation of conflicts across the country. The Islamist terrorist group Boko Haram has gradually invaded the north of the country since 2009 and has since executed more than 400 attacks and raids as well as suicide bombings. For over three years, the so-called Anglophone crisis prevails in the southwest and northwest, which has since claimed over 1000 victims and led to the division of the country. Add to this the clashes after the presidential elections of 2018, which further split the country and made the situation in Cameroon even more unstable. All of these conflicts have provoked a general crisis in Cameroon, which is affecting all sectors of society today.

At this year ’s meeting, we wish to address the following key question in the context of a workshop: what paths could Cameroon have for a democratized and stabilized Third Republic, which will answer both the general crisis in Cameroon and offer a perspective for a sustainable conflict resolution between „english speaking“and „french speaking“ cameroonains?

After a brief introduction and welcome speech, four speakers will first provide input on the problem analysis, followed by a panel discussion, in which everyone is called upon to participate actively and with interest. The events consists of the following steps:

Exchange on Cameroon’s central issues: current conflicts, growing inequality, weak and dysfunctional institutions, governance issues, insufficient recovery and overcoming of colonialism, problems of world market integration, weak growth.

Comments of the participants, endogenous and exogenous obstacles to the development of Cameroon.

objectives for the future based on comments and identified central issues.

Specific visions for political development of Cameroon and working group on concrete strategies, measures and steps to achieve future objectives.

The Workshop does not want to foster party-political confrontation, but is aimed at members of the Cameroonian Diaspora, who want to contribute to overcoming conflicts the country is currently going through, as well as those who are interested in the development in Cameroon and (Central) Africa. Accordingly, the Embassy of Cameroon has been informed and invited to attend the event, and participants need not be afraid of any misuse of their data.

The participation is limited to 30 people to allow for intensive collaboration involving all participants. The participation in the event is free. You are invited to join us in a Cameroonian buffet during the event.

Please indicate to us if you would be needing translation into French or German and if you are a vegetarian.
